What is the recommended age range for your products?
We have consciously removed staging and age recommendations from our Simple Starters Product Line. We believe that all babies are unique and progress at their own pace, which is why we encourage parents to prepare the food according to their baby's food readiness. Our Root Veggie and Squash Pack, Veggie Blend Pack and Lentil and Veggie Blend Pack can easily be used for baby's first bites. Oatmeal Blends Pack is our only product that cannot be prepared smooth, so we recommend waiting until your baby has more practice eating and can manage a chunkier meal. Please make sure to speak to your pediatrician before starting to feed solid food.
What is the difference between finger food, chunky puree and smooth puree?
See above image from left to right. Finger food is meant to be eaten as a soft, whole ingredient. Chunky puree is typically fork mashed, thick and may have chunks of soft food. Smooth puree has no chunks, and can be made to either a thick or thin consistency depending on the amount of liquid added.
How many meals can be made from one package?
Our package has a net weight of 16oz and makes a minimum of 4, 4oz portions, depending on the amount of liquid added. The number of meals you can make will fluctuate based on your baby's appetite. If you are just starting to feed solids, we recommend storing in 1oz portions to reduce food waste.
Can your products be prepared using breastmilk or formula?
Breastmilk or formula can be used in place of cooking liquid or water in our recipes, however any preparations using previously frozen breastmilk or formula cannot be stored in the freezer.
What is the best way to store prepared food?
We recommend storing in BPA free plastic, freezer safe glass containers, or ice cube trays for smaller portions. Food can be stored for up to three days in a refrigerator and three months in a freezer.
What is the best way to reheat prepared food?
For best results, thaw in the refrigerator and then serve either at room temperature or warmed to your preference. When reheating Oatmeal Blends Pack, add a splash of water for the best consistency.
Where do your ingredients come from?
Our ingredients are mainly sourced from farms (and mills!) all over the country and have been sampled extensively to ensure we are producing the best tasting products.
Are your ingredients organic?
With the exception of our lentils, all ingredients are certified Organic. Our Root Veggie and Squash Pack, Veggie Blend Pack and Oatmeal Blends Pack are USDA Organic Certified and non GMO products. The Lentil and Veggie Blend Pack is certified as 75% Organic and non GMO.
Are your ingredients gluten free?
Our products are vegetarian and gluten free, however we source oats that are processed on equipment that contains wheat.
Are your ingredients Allergen free?
None of our products contain the 8 main allergens (Milk, Treenuts, Peanuts, Soy, Eggs, Fish, Shellfish or Wheat), however our oats are processed on equipment that also processes wheat.
Is your packaging microwave safe?
We suggest steaming the contents of the packets when preparing food.
Do you use preservatives?
The apples in our Oatmeal Blends Pack product have ascorbic and citric acid to prevent browning. All other ingredients are preservative free.
